Happy 2014

Don't you just love new year's? You can start all over
Everybody gets a second chance
Well it's a new year folks and why not start it off with a quote from one of my favorite movies of all time Forrest Gump and nobody could have said it better than that blonde bimbo at the bar!
In the past I would have made some very conceited  new years resolution but this year I just want to be nice, love more and put out positive creative energy.
My small business Caps'N'Scraps has a lot to gain this year too: more shows, new designs, bigger pieces, art collaborations, installations and maybe even festivals this year well at least one! Here are some of the events I have planned for January so far:
inside the world famous Crocodile
in Seattle WA. on 2nd Ave
in Belltown. This Flea Market is
one of my favorites I consider it
my baby my first born of many
more flea markets (hopefully)
that I founded and curate every
2nd Friday.

ArtAche Market might be the second event
      of the year for Caps'N'Scraps
but I am not sure yet.
This market is combining forces with the very popular
Hangover Flea Market       that was once housed in the Comet Tavern and is in the market for a new venue but, until then
we combine forces. So, even if I don't make
get out and enjoy other rad artist or have a shot
     at the bar!

Urban Shopping & Cocktails is every 3rd Saturday in Tacoma and has become not only fun for what happens during the event but that I get to hang out and have brunch with Russ, Stephanie and recently Miss Jenny. This awesome event is hosted at the house of wonderful Christy Reedy of
Libertine Tacoma and Jenson of the band Halcion Halo

The third Saturday and Sunday of every month is always so much fun 2 events in a row keeps me busy plus my friends and I can drink on the job!
If you would like to be apart of the 3rd Sunday Punk Rock Swap Meet please message me capsnscraps@gmail.com
with what you create or sell and maybe we can get together and drink on the job too.

Punk Rock Swap Meet at the 2 Bit Saloon in Ballard is my every 3rd Sunday show with other creative artist and crafters. So, come hang out with some bad ass beautiful lady bartenders making you delicious handcrafted cocktails for only $4 like a  bloody Murphy and do some local shopping too.

Origami Vaginas by Jenny Dantes
January is national Cervical Cancer Awareness month and 1000 Origami Vaginas has teamed up with some wonderful local businesses and artist to raise money for all the Who Who's out there. There will be a raffle at this event with part of the proceeds going to National Cervical Cancer Coalition Pacific Northwest Chapter. This event means so much to all of the ladies attending because not only are we females with who who's but, because our dear friend Jenny's sister was diagnosed with Cervival Cancer in April. I have 2 sisters and couldn't help but feeling for Jenny and knowing the pain of having your sibling be hurting and knowing there is not much you can do for them but, Jenny found her way of helping her sister out and I love her for that!  She created her page to dedicate her time and effort into folding 1000 Origami vaginas in order to raise money for her sisters medical plus recovery expenses. Her efforts everyones love and generosity paid off in July when after many treatments her sister was found Cancer Free. This did not mean the end of Jenny's battle to beat Cervical Cancer she now is involved with raising money and awareness for Cervical Health so, spread those legs ladies and get your guys to bend over cause guys need regular check ups too.

Whoo, that last part was really hard to write through my watery eyes that I had while thinking of all the strong females in my life and the power of sisterly love.
Well I hope you enjoyed my first blog of 2014 and maybe I will see you at one of these events this month Happy New Year and that's all folks.

Holidazed

WOW how crazy the 2013 holiday season has been and it's not over yet! This month has kept me real busy with creating new art to keep up with stock after doing all the flea markets, Bazaar's, swap meets and other events I have been doing and still have planed for this month.
My greeting cards are so much fun and always make people smile laugh or start up a conversation whenever they see them and my snowflakes were more popular than I thought they were going to be.
Giving books a second life after the holiday season!
My thumb is raw and peeling from all the thumbtacks I use to hangup snowflakes as part of my holiday display but it always looks so cool when they are up. So far this holiday season I have done 6 events:
Making snowflakes out of recycled beer boxes.

ArtAche at Chop Suey
Punk Rock Flea Market at Belltown Underground
Capitol Hill Art Walk
Back Bar Flea Market at The Crocodile
Holiday Bazar Gnar
plus one today December 15th
Punk Rock Swap Meet at 2 bit Saloon
and still have a couple more events to go before my holiday vending season is over.
Starving Artist on Parade at Highline
Urban Shopping and Cocktails in Tacoma
more events are always posted on my Caps'N'Scraps
facebook page.

I am very excited for the event I have planned on Monday it is at the highline where there will be burlesque, comedy and art. I will have my naughty lil Xmas cards attached to candy canes here and of course more snowflakes. I will have to post a photo of my naughty lil cards with candy canes in another post.

This season has been crazy my jewelry is evolving into what I always had seen it in my head I survived the crazy Punk Rock Flea Market and still work once a week as an agent at the Pike Place Market. It may seem like I have disappeared to some of my friends but I think it is because I have but, once this season is over I'll go back to having a personal life but for right now I am loving every minute of my crazy life!

Pop-Up Shop

This year will be the first time that my studio will be open to the public for black Friday.
There will be an area to create your own scrapbook pages for all the photos you would have taken on Thanksgiving and for all the photos you will be taking during the holiday season. Also you can make a custom pair of beerings all you have to do is pick a cap and add your charms it's really easy and i'll be there to help you the entire time. For those of you that are over 21 there will be adult drinks being served, light snacks plus Christmas music and movies for the kiddos. This event can be a little hard to find as there is no door open to easily walk in but you can text message me when you get to the door my number will be on the front black or on the big red alley way door.
So, this black friday and entire holiday shopping season for that matter make sure to find your local flea markets, bizarres or swap meets and buy something handcrafted from a small business.

New Designs

This month has been interesting.
The new designs that I have been coming up are some of my favorite plus the fans are really giving me some excellent feedback and loving to wear them as much as I am loving to create them. Using more watch parts, spoons and vintage finds my style is transforming into what I always envisioned my business being.

Horse Parts
This necklace started off like any of my designs begin, I find the main piece and work around it.
With my business being focused mainly around
booze my mind is always set to beer so,
of course when I saw this gold rusted up piece
my mind right away thought bottle opener.
Nope that is not at all what I thought it was, the
lady selling it at the rummage sale I found it
at laughed at me. She then explained how
it was used to decorate horse mains back when
these animals were used as main sources of
transportation. Like how we decorate our cars
with stickers this is what they used to decorate
horses. I then added a watch part plus 2 pearls
to hang from the center of the horse decoration and
is hanging on a long 35inch chain.

Broken Washington
This Piece was the first of my new designs that sold. My friend Emily bought it which makes me happy cause I get to see it every once in a while. My friend Jen gave me this part to work with and you would never believe that it started off as a spoon. As you may or may not know I hang WA state spoons from chains but, I broke this spoon and used just the top part of it. The watch pieces are all parts that I have been hoarding forever because I either broke them during the take apart process or that do not have a spot for me to put an O-ring through to use as a charm. Most of the pieces are the knobs that turn the minute and hour hands plus the little screws that hold the watch together. Every once in a while if it is a really nice watch there is a diamond in it so yeah I get fancy and add diamonds to my work too.

Have an idea for a custom design? Get a hold of me to put in an order for Christmas and give the most perfect one of a kind handmade gift this year!
